Collection: BALLISTIC SHIELD INSTRUCTOR

The Ballistic Shield Instructor (BSI) course is an accelerated, instructor-level program designed for law enforcement, military, and government professionals responsible for training ballistic shield operations within their agency.

BSI integrates shooting mechanics, tactics, and ballistic shield application to move beyond legacy training models. Instruction is grounded in research, operational trends, and observed performance outcomes to ensure training relevance, defensibility, and real-world application.

Students begin with classroom instruction focused on ballistic shield deployment trends, tactics, and human performance considerations. This foundation establishes the context and intent for training—clarifying not just how the shield is used, but when and why.

Live-fire training emphasizes handgun operation while working behind the ballistic shield, focusing on problem-solving, movement, and adaptability. Students progress through one-handed shooting, reloads and malfunctions, positional work, movement, and light use, advancing to partner-based and low-light live-fire exercises.

Training will include live-fire and NLTA, in and around vehicles and structures, in both daylight and lowlight conditions. Students will learn how to maximize shield effectiveness based on environment and mission, while also learning how to develop drills that are adaptable to their agency’s needs.

The course concludes with performance validation through force-on-force scenarios, individual skill assessment, instructional evaluation, and a written exam.

BSI prepares instructors to confidently build, implement, and sustain an effective ballistic shield program within their agency.
