Course Info:
This course covers the basic fundamentals of deploying white light in conjunction with the handgun and carbine. Handheld lighting techniques will be covered extensively as will weapon mounted lighting techniques. The lighting techniques and weapons will then be meshed into a comprehensive and seamless system.
The techniques will then be applied in the live-fire shoot house. Drills will progress into multiple target and discretionary shooting situations.
The same techniques will also be applied in force on force drills and scenarios that require students to navigate rooms and structures while using white light to reduce angles and solve progressively complicated problems.
Students will also be exposed to basic trauma medicine to include tourniquet application, wound packing and chest seals.
The course will cover:
- Safe tactics
- Handheld light nomenclature and section
- pre-engagement / engagement / post engagement processes
- Handheld lighting techniques
- Weapon mounted lighting techniques
- Weapons manipulations in diminished light
- Multiple threat engagements
- Discretionary engagements
- Conventional and non-conventional positions
- Room/structure navigation and live fire drills
- Progressive force on force drills
- Interior and exterior vehicle work
Student Equipment List:
- Handgun with minimum 3 magazines
- 800 rounds handgun ammunition
- Quality holster specific to handgun
- Necessary support or duty gear
- Weapon mounted light for handgun ( not mandatory but highly suggested)
- Quality handheld flashlight
- Extra batteries
- Carbine with minimum 3 magazines
- 800 rounds carbine ammunition
- Sling
- Necessary support or duty gear (mag pouches, belt or vest mounted that allow student to retain magazines for the carbine )
- Weapon mounted light ( not mandatory but highly suggested)
- Ballistic vest / entry vest / ballistic plates with carrier *MANDATORY for shoot house*
- Ballistic helmet *MANDATORY for shoot house*
- Protective mask head/neck/throat protection for FoF drills
- "Simunition" handgun
- "Simunition" carbine
- 300 rounds of simunition handgun
- 300 rounds of simunition carbine
- Tourniquet
- Compressed gauze
- Chest seal
- 8 Chem lights or equivalent battery powered PID, front and rear, for each night.
- Clear eye protection
- Ear protection (amplified highly suggested)
